Nursing Services
The Nairobi Hospital is re-known for the high quality nursing care and provision of excellent patient services in the country, regionally and globally. Professionalism is an aspect we pride ourselves in; we take great care to recruit and retain nurses of high calibre who are committed to patient care.
To achieve that quality of care, procedures, policies and standards have been put in place using internatioinal bench marks. Regular internal audits are done to ensure that the care at any time is improved.
The nursing division is the hospital's backbone in medical care giving patients a positive hospital experience and a conducive environment for quick recovery.
The division consists of:- wards

- Central Sterile Services Division.
Nursing services are headed by the Director of Nursing (Matron) who is deputized by two Assistant Matron. They are assisted in the operations of the various sections by Charge Sisters.
Janet F. K. Mathiu, KRN, KRM, SRN, BSc. - Nursing & HSM Matron/Director Nursing Services
Janet is a Kenya Registered Nurse, Kenya Registered Midwife, and Senior Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and Health Services Management. She joined The Nairobi Hospital on 15th November 1976. She previously worked in Mater Hospital as a Midwife is widely traveled locally and internationally.
Janet enjoys reading generally, listening to music especially classical, raveling, playing squash, swimming, salsa dancing and associating with those less and needy people through the Church.
| Sr. Norah A Onyango Assistant Matron
Mrs Onyango is a Kenyan Registered nurse, Kenya Registered midwife and she holds a higher diploma in Child Nursing from Red Cross Children Hospital and BLS from the Post-Basic Department of The Nairobi Hospital. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Open University in Cape Town, South Africa.
She has worked in both medical and surgical units and specialised in paediatrics. She formerly chaired Nursing Process Committee and Quality Steering Committee. She is a member of the Medicine and Therapeutics Committee, Tender Committee and she is a member of Paediatric Nurses Chapter and NNAK. | Sr.Grace Waruiru Assistant Matron

Sr. Marren Chunga

Sr. Chunga has 25 years of experience in Nursing and she holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Nairobi. She has also studied midwifery at Pumwani Hospital and general nursing at The Nairobi Hospital. She is certified by the Nairobi Hospital in critical care nursing and is a clinical instructor in critical care at the Intensive Care Unit.

Sr. Njoroge has 16 years of experience in general and critical care nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Agakhan University. She is also certified as a Kenya Registered Nurse and Critical Care Nurse by the Kenya Medical Training Institute and is currently pursuing a Masters of Nursing Degree from Dundee University. She has formerly worked with Nyeri Hospital and Agakhan Hospital. She is the current treasurer of the Kenya Intensive Care Chapter.

Sr. Kamamo has 20 years of experience in Nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from American Word University. She is also a Kenya Registered Nurse, Kenya Registered Midwife and Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse. She has worked at the Nairobi Hospital in different capacities prior to being appointed to her current position.

She holds certificates in critical care nursing, AIDS/HIV counseling, Nursing Research and Rapid Response and Pandemic Influenza. She has worked in various capacities at the Nairobi Hospital prior to being appointed to her current position.

Sr. Omonge a Nursing Degree from the University of Dundee, Kenya Registered Nurse Diploma from Cicely McDonnell School of Nursing and a Kenya Registered Midwife Diploma from Mater Hospital. She has 20 years of experience in general and critical care nursing and is a member of NNAK and a committee member of the NNAK Nairobi Hospital Branch.

Sister Kubai is a Kenya Registered Nurse, Kenya Registered Midwife and she is current pursuing a BSc. in Nursing from American World University. She has undertaken a Diabetic Course, Teaching & Assessing Course and HIV/AIDS counseling at The Nairobi Hospital, Palliative Care for Healthcare Professionals at The Nairobi Hospice and Management Development from Consultants for Effective Training. She has 23 years of experience in nursing and has formerly worked in Paediatrics, obstetrics and Surgical wards.

Sister Mubangi has been a practicing nurse for 20 years. She is a Kenya Registered Nurse, Kenya Registered Midwife and and she holds a Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Tec Institute of Technology. She has formerly worked in the HDU, Medical and Surgical wards prior to being appointed to her current capacity.

Sister Kieti has 13 years of experience in nursing and she holds a BSc. in Nursing, she is a Kenya Registered Nurse, Kenya Registered Midwife and she has also studied Operating Room Nursing at the Kenyatta National Hospital. She is a member of The Nairobi Hospital Theatre Users Committee, Quality Steering Committee, Blood and Blood Components Transfusion and the National Nurses Association of Kenya Theatre Chapter.
