ISO Certification


The Nairobi Hospital is committed to quality in every aspect of the business.

Quality Policy

The Nairobi Hospital is committed to providing healthcare to international standards and aims at becoming a total quality hospital. The Hospital Management is committed to:

  • Ensuring our facilities and practices consistently deliver desired levels of quality performance.
  • Partnering with our suppliers in the provision of quality healthcare services.
  • Recruiting and maintaining qualified personnel and developing high levels of staff competence.
  • Continually improve our Quality Management System.

Objective

To determine the quality level of the entire hospital in the first year of establishment of the Quality Management System.

ISO.jpgISO Certifications

  • 15189 - This is a certification for the accreditation of the Laboratory. It ensures that every test undertaken undergoes the correct internationally standardized process and that all tools used are to the correct standard and that the result given is the correct result. The Hospital is well on its way to achieving this certification for the Laboratory.
  • 22000:2005 - This certification seeks to ensure safety in the handling and management of food from source to the time it is served in the Hospital from our main Kitchen.
  • 140001:2004 - This certification is for effective management of the environment through the elements such as energy, water, fire and the air. The Hospital was recently awarded this certification. 

IncineratorAchievements of the Hospital in environmental health and safety

To ensure disposal of medical waste, the hospital has recently renovated the state of the art incinerator

The incinerator is a two stage burner system with a capacity of 900 cubic meters per hour. The system also has a purifier to eliminate gaseous contaminates before they leave the chimney into the air.

Waste management

The Hospital has colour coding of waste bags to schemes to ensure sorting at source. We recycle papers and envelopes (with confidentiality being carefully controlled).

Energy saving Innovations includes:

  • Lights switch off stickers
  • Office checklist 
  • Push time taps in all public washroom
  • Hand triggers and sprinklers for gardening instead of hose pipe

Training on the Environmental system is critical to the success of the system
There are over 16 environmental auditors in the Hospital who are trained to audit the system. Most to the staff at the Hospital has undergone operators training to manage and use the system.

Inspection


Random and surveillance inspections are carried out by the certification body to ensure the system is operational at all times.

The Nairobi Hospital is committed to managing environmental, health and safety matters as an integral part of our operations.

The environment goals of the Hospital are to protect the environment, patients, employees, neighbors and all other customers.

This commitment will be fulfilled by proactive implementation of procedures and programs to prevent pollution; compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and employment of management systems designed to prevent activities that pose a threat to human health, safety or the environment.

The Hospital will champion the cause for conservation and prudent use of renewable sources of energy. We will minimize the waste generated and work towards the safe treatment and disposal of waste.

The Hospital will have a continuous format on communication to all persons working for or on behalf of the organization, and how to communicate to the public.

We will seek opportunities for continual improvement to our environment, health and safety management and periodically report assessment progress in line with our set objectives and targets.

THE NAIROBI HOSPITAL FOOD SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

The Nairobi Hospital is committed to managing food safety matters as an integral part of our operations.

The food safety goals of the Hospital are to protect the patients, employees, neighbors and all other customers.

This commitment will be fulfilled by proactive implementation of procedures and programs to prevent infections/complaints related to food handling; compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and employment of management systems designed to prevent activities that pose a threat to human health, safety or the food safety.

The Hospital will champion the cause to produce safe meals applied to all processing steps from purchasing, transportation, receiving, storage, thawing, cooking, cold and hot holding as well as when serving and cleaning of both the premises, the equipment and tools used in both preparation and service.

The Hospital will have a continuous format on communication to all persons working for or on behalf of the organization, and how to communicate to the public.
